Toastmasters: Our Batting Cage For Life

The great baseball players – even the good baseball players – all had one thing in common: They practiced batting before they ever approached the plate in a game.

Batting is a skill. Leadership and communication are also skills, and we only improve them through practice. The batting cage is where a gifted baseball player perfects his swing. Toastmasters is where we develop our skills. Baseball players don’t step up to the plate in the ninth inning, look at the loaded bases and tight score, then hope to hit a home run. They spend hours in the cage preparing themselves for a crucial moment at the plate. Toastmasters do the same thing at their weekly meetings. They prepare themselves for that important presentation, that career-changing conversation, or that moment of truth as a leader. Toastmasters is our batting cage for life!
